Tasneem also known as Taz is a nationally recognised expert in civil and commercial litigation. Tasneem has acted in a number of cases in relation to clinical negligence, including advising in cases involving alleged breaches of human rights, pushing the legal boundaries.

Notable cases include:

  • Being appointed by the family of Dr Joan Francisco in a case which made English legal history as the first case of ‘civil murder’ where there had been no previous criminal proceedings

  • Successfully acting in Judicial Review proceedings against Home Office, where three judges, including Lord Chief Justice, Lord Bingham, ruled that the way the prison service had calculated release dates of inmates serving concurrent sentences had been unlawfully applied over the past 30 years ( Regina v Governor of Onley Young Offender Institution Rugby ex parte Reid 1997, EWHC Admin 544)

  • Acting in a reported Court of Appeal decision in an insurance dispute relating to the imputed and constructive knowledge of an insurance company ( Malhi v Abbey Life Assurance Company Ltd (1996) LRLR 237)

  • Instrumental with the successful outcome of the civil Stephen Lawrence case in 1999. Tasneem worked with the family and wider network including Matthew Ryder QC to bring this complex and factual civil claim for professional negligence, misfeasance in public office and race discrimination against the Metropolitan Police, a case successfully settled out of court
